Run for the Border...

...and I don't mean Taco Bell. I'm mean the Texas/Louisiana border. At this moment I'm sitting in a hotel room in Orange, Texas. Now Orange isn't exactly a destination for a lot of people...there's not really that much here. But it is only a few short miles from the state line and Delta Downs in Vinton, Louisiana. There are better casinos but I'm not here to gamble. I made the trek to see the Oak Ridge Boys. And what a night it was.

I was a bit concerned when I was only to get a third row ticket. I was in the third row last year and didn't have the greatest view. And although I was again in the third row the heavens did smile down upon because it was third row in the section smack in front of Joe and Duane. This year I could see EVERYONE on stage where last year I was doing good to get a glimpse of Richard.

And since I took the day off I was able to get in somewhat early and make a quick trip to check out the slots. I'm not a big gambler so it's not like I was itching to drop in loads of money. In fact, I was playing the penny slots...and when it was all said and done I won $15. So basically, my winnings took care of most of my casino 'purchases---basically a drink or two while killing time waiting for the show oh and a bite to eat. This year I was smart and got to the casino early so I could park in a decent place without having to practically hike back from the state line.

It was a wonderful day and a fantastic night. GREAT SHOW.
