On The Horizon....

....of a new month. October begins tomorrow...visions of pumpkins and turkeys and trees....hope for cooler weather....a fresh start, a clean slate, a month of possibilities. Seems we generally only think of a fresh start or 'clean slate' at the start of a new year. Why? We have one every month, every day actually. Just another reminder to enjoy the here and now and do things NOW instead of later in case there isn't a later...

I've come to look to fall with mixed emotions. What is generally my favorite time of year has become bittersweet since mom's passing...the 11th will mark six years. Seems like yesterday and yet at times it seems to have been ages ago. These are the times I have to remember the good...think of the great sense of independence mom gave me. Without that I may never have done some of the things I have. Or some of the things I continue to do and work towards. Thanks mom.

Yep....it's Sunday.....

...another busy week about to begin....work, work, work with a few play dates mixed in....book club on Tuesday, hopefully catching up with a friend on Thursday evening, and no telling what the weekend will hold. (Yup, already thinking of the weekend!)

Spent Friday night visiting with Joey, Gloria and Danny--fun time. Saturday I got to hang out with Robin and create--seems we never have enough time to actually create! Had a great lunch at Buca and a side trip to Michaels-cute new punch. Then off to El Campo to walk in the Relay for Life. It was HOT out there...I was dripping wet by the time I was done--and it was only an hour! Thank goodness the MS Walk will be in doors--yes, I am a wimp.

Sunday has truly been a day of rest. I managed to drag myself to the the grocery store to pick up a few things. Came home and scanned the paper. Just sat and relaxed, enjoying the quiet--no tv, no radio-nothing. Ended up taking a long nap--so much for accomplishments today!! Here it is 8p and I'm still trying to finish up laundry.....managed to fix dinner and clean up the kitchen and now trying accomplish a few other things and maybe play with paper a little before bed. Sundays just seem to go too quickly.

On another note, Happy Birthday to my buddy Leann.

Picture update...

...been promising pics and finally taking time to load them...enjoy.....

Show your support!!

I know it's early...but I'm asking you to mark your calendars for Friday, November 13, 2009. Why? That is the day before the Katy MS Walk. I am asking that you mark your calendars and extend your support that day by wearing orange for all those who suffer with MS....for all those who love someone dealing with MS.....for all those participating in the Katy Walk to fight MS.

Show your support and wear orange!

Help Wanted....

The only pay involved is the personal satisfaction you will feel knowing you've helped the millions battling MS. I am recruiting for the annual MS Walk set November 14, 2009, at Katy Mills. I need team members and donations! If you can help, please head over to my participation center and sign up: http://main.nationalmssociety.org/site/TR/Walk/TXHWalkEvents?px=4886693&pg=personal&fr_id=11731&s_tafId=112263

September 21-25, 2009, is Team Week and YOUR help is needed!

YEP...

....it's Monday. Weekend went by way too fast...but then, don't they always. Spent Saturday hanging out with Melissa shopping for things for the new house. Fun. I have now experienced The Dump--furniture store. Nice stuff. She got some great things.

Sunday I did a LOT of nothing. I did attempt to find out why my dryer takes forever to dry my clothes...pulled it out and cleaned the lint traps....still not working properly. May have to call a repair man or buy a new dryer....ugh.

Watched the last part of Dirty Dancing. I may have to break down and get that one on dvd. Such a classic. And Patrick Swayze was HOT. Gonna miss him.

Another busy week ahead. Fall begins tomorrow...YEAH. Now if we can just get the fall temps! MS Team Captain Rally on Wednesday.

Autumn....

I've noticed the past couple of days it's feeling a bit cooler outside.....not stiffling heat as it has been. It's starting to really feel like autumn is approaching! Well as much as we have autumn. (Slightyly) cooler temps.....school back in full swing....stores displaying Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas decor..... And suddenly I have a desire for chili...may just have to make a pot tonight!

Welcome Wednesday....

We've made it to mid-week so it should all be down-hill from here!

First off, Congrats to the W family (and I don't mean Bush). Jr. made his appearance last night and though I have few details I know he is beautiful and I can hardly wait to see him! I hear mom is doing well too.

For my Jewish friends--and you know who you are--Happy New Year!

For my other friends...hang in there, the weekend is coming! Not 100% certain at the moment what the weekend will hold for me. There are a couple options on the calendar and I need to make a final decision fairly quick. I'm hoping to have a devine revelation there soon. For now it's time to tackle the pile of work before me....

More info than needed....

In the last couple of weeks I have learned more things than I need to know about womanly issues as they pertain to me. Personally I would be happy with just the basic; everything is fine. Granted, things could have been more involved and detailed than they have been but I've learned more than enough.

One more doctor appointment this week-follow up with hematologist. Hoping he just takes blood and says everything is fine. Espcially since I can tell a difference since taking the iron. Just two little tests next week for the gyno and then with luck, I'll be done with doctors till my next neuro appointment in February. Keep a good thought!

Starting to feel somewhat like my old self. Have a bit more energy and the weather is starting to change. Fall is approaching and honestly, that is my favorite time of year. I love the cooler temps, the various decorations for the seasons and for the most part, people seem to be in better moods. To me the start of a new year is a downer because the 'magical time' is gone and we have to settle into hum-drum routine.

RIP Patrick....

Like so many I fell in love with you via Dirty Dancing....and then there was Ghost. I recall going to charity events because YOU would be there...like the event held at the Great Southwestern Equestrian Club in Katy....it was freezing cold and pouring rain but we huddled together to get a glimpse of you and hear you sing 'She's Like the Wind'....and then there was the rodeo performance where you shared the bill with the Gatlin Brothers....

Bear with me...

I have pictures to post, I just haven't had time to get them posted. Been a busy weekend with the girls....seems I got home in time to grab a little sleep and was off again. Now my time is dedicated to getting some sleep because 6a will be here before I know it.

Stay tuned....

Behind....

...and I'm not talking about mine! It's been a few days since I've blogged, my place is a wreck (still) and I'm falling behind with my picture a day project that I do at this time of the year. I have pictures for all but one day--so I'm good there...just haven't printed and scrapped any. Hopefully over the next few days that will change.

Seems the final push for registration this year really hit hard--harder than usual--and then I've had so many doctor appointments thrown into the mix. One more next week and hopefully I'll be done for a while....

Hopefully too over the next few days I can get my head on straight and into some sort of routine. Here's hoping!

Mundane...

If you check out my blog to find out what's going on you've been rather bored by it. If not well, you're a saint. No surprise, August kept me beyond busy with work. So glad the semester has finally started. Still backed up a bit at work but at least now I don't feel I have to work 60+ hours a week.

Mixed with all the fun of work has been various doctor appointments for this and that. Kinda sucks really but nothing too drastic--thank heavens. Hopefully over the next few all of that will be behind me as well. I can tell a difference since taking the iron...honestly, is this what it feels like to have some energy?

Speaking of energy I've not accomplished a great deal over the holiday weekend. Of course, it's Sunday evening and there is still a day left. I treated myself to a movie on Saturday-Post Grad with Alexis Bledel--cute movie. Today I've done a lot of lounging--which I felt I needed. I've mixed in a little purging, organizing and cleaning. The operative word being little.....

Hoping to spend some time between now and bed tomorrow doing some creating. I have supplies to begin office Christmas presents so I'm really hoping to get a jump on things and get them made. Wouldn't it be wonderful if they were done before Thanksgiving! It could happen.......

C'mon Friday....

...even if I do have a flippin dr. appointment! At least that means I'll get out of the office early and it is a holiday weekend! Wahooooo to that!!

The verdict is in...

...definitely iron deficient....back in about two weeks.......

...and most importantly for me, I can tell a difference since starting the iron so I am a happy girl!

Looking forward to going home and creating tonight!

Maybe....just maybe......

....hopefully things are slowly getting back on track and I am starting to recoup energy. I started the iron prescribed by the hematologist though I often only get one dose down a day--as opposed to the two he ordered (I know, I know...I'm working on that---I took both doses yesterday!).

I ran all afternoon and a good part of the evening yesterday. Accomplished several things and although tired at the conclusion I was not totally exhausted as I have been in the past. That's not to say I really accomplished anything once I got home but again I wasn't totally wiped out and exhausted--a real miracle after the past week.

I did sleep in this morning and I have been taking my time. Puttering around...slowly accomplishing things. Slowly getting the kitchen cleaned and the rest of the place picked up. As is the norm during registration season, my place is an absolute W R E C K. I know I have furniture somewhere under all the stuff! Slowly it emerges.

Needing to pay some bills and make a run to the grocery store--no fun. Also looking forward to fitting in some creative time. Even though the 'studio' is a wreck I will just push things aside so I can play. I need some creative time. Plus I have new goodies and ideas!

Have a wonderful Sunday and with luck I'll return with pictures!

So I need my head examined...

...anyone that knows me knows that already! Seriously though...it's just after 6AM and I am at the office...yep, you read that correctly. I am up, showered, dressed and sitting at my desk about to dive into a pile of work. The good news is I KNOW I will be leaving on time this evenig--cause I have a massage at 6p...and I NEED IT!!

Off to the grind.....

My head is spinning...

...and not due to dizziness this time. Just life in general. So much happening...so many responsibilities.....I don't know how people with a family juggle it all. I don't know how I juggled it all when mom was alive and had to care for her and run her everywhere. But I did. And somehow I still managed to find time for things. And miracuosly I had the energy to do it all.

One day at a time...I keep reminding myself...one day at a time.

And tomorrow is our last Friday afternoon off. Back to regular hours next week. I'll love not having to be in the office till 8a but working all day on Friday will stink!

Pull it out!

Your camera! What did you think I was going to write?? Get your minds out of the gutter!!

This morning while getting ready for work I realized I've not been taking pictures lately. In fact, I really don't recall the last time I pulled out the camera and just too pictures. If you know me, you know that's really not like me.

So today I plan to pull out the camera (I actually have two in my purse and that does not include the camera on my phone) and snap pictures. Of random things. Of whatever catches my eye. Of whatever I want. I guess it'll kinda be a documentary of sorts of my day.

Maybe tonight I'll even get off my keister and actually scrap what I shoot.

Happy Snapping!!

One day at a time....

That's really all we can do. We get so wrapped up in our lives and responsibilities we forget to live and enjoy things. We're so harried and worried about everything when we really need to just step back, take a breath and take it easy. One thing at a time. One day at a time. Enjoy now.

I have a dear friend who always reminds me: Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery but today is a gift that's why it's called the present.

This friend must really be the ultimate optimist for even when he's been down, he's still taking care of others. Focusing on their happiness. And he refuses to let anyone do anything for him! Not that he needs anything done for him but even so, even something as simple as someone buying him a cup of coffee is too much for him. This individual truly gives of himself and I know I and all who come in contact with him are a better person. He inspires me to be a better person. And he also reminds me that sometimes you just have to say, 'to hell with it all!'.

So the point of my little discourse is to remind you take things one day at a time and live for you, live for now!
