So I go to lunch (uneventful) and run by WalMart on my way back to the office because I have a prescription I need filled. My plan was to just drop it off and go back later but I waited for it--mistake. I had just backed out of the parking space and was about to put my car in drive. I noticed in my side mirror that there was something large and white at the corner of my car. I realized it was a truck backing out so I hit my horn. Too late--BOOM.
The lady didn't see me. Fortunately I was sitting still and she was going slow so it's basically just a dented quarter panel (did nothing to her vehicle). She was nice. I got her info and headed back to the office to call the insurance company and begin dealing with that.
I get back...no power. Normally I really wouldn't mind that except for the fact it is now hotter than hell in my office (heat and MS don't mix). There was at least one funny out of it...standing in the hallway with coworkers (cause it was cooler than the office) we saw a w0man walk up to the elevator, push the button and stand there waiting. Apparently the fact there was no electricity in the building did not register that it would also mean there would be no elevator...

Miscellaneous Mess...
Somewhat in the vain of Timmy's post about random things..here's mine....
Classes started Monday so of course there are those losing their mind.....hopefully Wednesday will be the end of that for another semester. Of course that also means I've been working insane hours and still not getting it all done.
Tonight was bookclub which is always nice. A leisurely dinner with friends--and somewhat healthy (except for the very chocolate brownie). Then on to book club to share creations. Definintely a different vibe in the air as you could tell many were tired. But creative juices though muted as well. Shame I need to get to bed because I'm always in the mood to create when I get in from bookclub. (Maybe if I ever get things organized I can do something every night no matter how small.)
A quick trip to Target for essentials--cat litter. Oh and a few different magazines. I swear I'm addicted to magazines!! I know I'm going to stay up too late flipping through them.
The MS Walk is about a month away and I've not really done anything regarding my team in at least a week. Hopefully by the end of the long weekend I can work on that and solicit some more donations. So, if you haven't signed up to join me on the walk or to donate look for that email soon!!
As usual my place is a wreck so I definitely need to do some sort of cleaning. I'll try working on that some tomorrow evening.
Despite the fact that I should stay home this weekend and organize and clean I'm taking advantage of the long weekend and making the trek to Austin. I thought about Canton but it's still a bit too warm for that. I'll spend the weekend veggin in Austin instead. That's always a good, relaxing time.
I guess that's enough of a random recap for now. Off to flip through my new magazines before bed....

What a week...
Last week was busy, busy, busy...and stressful. Not much time for resting partially because I've not scheduled in much time for it. I have many things I need to be doing right now but I really just want to go take a nap. Maybe a quick one?? The cleaning will just have to wait!
Had great fun on Saturday with the girls at the all day crop. Laugh lots even while being annoyed a great deal but another group. But then, that did lead to some of the laughter! I even managed to get about ten or so pages done. Not bad considering I did not take the proper time to prepare before and had no idea what I had with me. And it averages out to about a page an hour so, no complaints.

Neuro visit....
Saw the neurologist for the first time today since starting the meds. I'm guessing I'm progressing fine. He didn't seem too concerned about my stiffness though he did increase the anti-fatigue meds. Ordered some bloodwork and said he's see me again in six months. Guess things are good. Now if this damn stiffness in my right thigh would at least subside.
It's been a busy week. Monday I ended up basically working till about 2am (yes, AM). At least I was at home. Tuesday night I took a me break and went for a massage. Today was the neuro and tomorrow I really need to hit the chiropractor since I haven't been this week. Friday is a full work day which should be interesting because usually by Friday afternoon I'm on the couch or in bed snoozing. I'm really hoping I can slip out of the office early Friday since I still have some vacation time. It all just depends on what I can get done tomorrow and what's left that must be done before Monday since it's first class day.
It's getting late and I'm yawning...off to bed for me....

Up TOO late...
..and I'm sure I'll regret it. Big brother was in town so we all went to dinner which rearranged my work schedule. Basically I've spent the last few (four) hours doing the work I would have been doing had I stayed at the office (and yes, it's after 1am). I know I am going to pay for this coming morning...oh, it already is morning. Off to finish a few last things before calling it a night. At least I don't have to be in the office till 8a as opposed to 7:30a...

Lost weekend...
That's kinda how I'm viewing this one. Other than attending the college gala on Friday night I've not really done anything. Didn't get in till nearly midnight on Friday and I needed to be up fairly early on Saturday to be out the door by nine. I didn't make it. In fact I spent more hours Saturday sleeping than I did awake. I do believe the excessive hours and stress have caught up with me because I've pretty much been down for the count. And instead of having all day today (Sunday) to try to make up for doing nothing yesterday, I need to go into the office for a bit this afternoon in an effort to get a jump start on the work week. I already forsee an extra long work day on Monday. I just keep reminding myself that school starts next week and then things should ease a bit...

Up TOO Late...
It's just after 10:30pm (omg, I'm missing Two and a Half Men) and I feel as though I'm up too late. I have gotten somewhat used to the pattern of being in bed by 8:30/9p and fast asleep by now. But tonight I was out for shopping and dinner with a friend and didn't get in till just after 9:30p. Perhaps I'm just having trouble winding down...plus the Olympics are on and it's gymnastics--which I've always loved. Kinda getting into the swimming too since Michael Phelps is so amazing. Actually found myself yelling at the tv last night...go, go, go.....

New Shirt...
My memory is NOT what it used to be....
Is it old age or something else? I can't seem to remember a darn thing....me, who could remember obscure things about different events. And now, nothing..... So frustrating....

So SO busy....
I believe I've ranted before about it being that time of year.....and if so, forgive me. But it is that time of year that means long days, too much work and always some sort of problem thrown into the mix. Add the fact our office has been short at least one person all summer and that's without anyone taking any vacation time. I keep reminding myself the 25th is just around the corner...oh and the attitude of screw it actually helps--if you can believe that. Basically that means I've made several decisions that may come back and bite me in the rear but in the end (ha ha) they are decisions in favor of the students and I'm the one who'll pay.
Funny how I keep thinking I'll get around to various things. Like getting my apartment clean. Organizing my scrap room. Actually doing some scrapping. Catching up on reading. Some day...

Galveston...oh Galveston....
So odd (for me) to be in Galveston in the summer and at the 1894 Grand Opera House for something other than the Oaks! Melissa and I went Saturday for the Tuna Does Vegas production--Great Show. If you haven't seen any of the Tuna shows you're missing out! Those two guys are hysterical.....I just love the character Didi Snavely and oh the one-liners.....'we'll always have McAllen'.......'put on some liptsick and kiss my..............ass'.........so many others I can't recall.......

Squat
That about sums up the amount of rain/wind/etc we got out of the big storm. I'm not complaining that we didn't get slammed but a little rain would have been nice. But did I mention I did get the day off?

Hurricane's a-comin....
...and the college made the decision today to close tomorrow.....I get to sleep in......I get to do whatever I want.....I get to sleep in.
Naturally, the store was a bit of zoo tonight but apparently HEB was nothing compared to WalMart. I didn't even venture out that direction. I hear it's been out of control out there pretty much all day. Maybe I'm being overly optimistic but I picked up the things I needed to pick up before I was aware of any storm-milk, cat food (seems I was really out of touch this weekend and knew nothing of the storm till I turned on the morning news).
So I have the day off tomorrow and did I mention, I can sleep in?

Lucky US
Looks like hurricane whats-its-name is gonna hit at Galveston. Hope we just get a little wind and rain here. I need a few things from the store but now really dread going because EVERYONE will be there in a PANIC. Oh joy.

Off to the races!
Sorta. Wendy and I are going to the horse track tonight to see Neal McCoy. I think the last time I saw Neal was at the same venue...and in August...and we about near melted. I imagine tonight will be no different in that aspect. What is different is their venue has changed a bit and I bought presale tickets so we have third row center which will hopefully make for some good shots. Of course too the other difference is how badly the heat impacts me these days. I had to run out this morning to pick up my prescription and the heat zapped me what little time I was out, I can only imagine what shape I'll be in by the time the show is over. But at least I'm crashing at Wendy's so I don't have to drive all the way back to the sticks in the middle of the night.
I'm starting to get excited!!
